Write the difference between power and distribution transformer?

Friends, today in this article we will learn about the difference between power and distribution transformer. I am going to give information about all these in a very good way. So let’s start.

Distribution/Distributor Transformer –

When transformers are used for distribution of electric power, they are called distribution transformers. Their capacity is up to 750 kVA maximum. They remain operational for 24 hours. Due to running for 24 hours, its constant loss, which is also called iron loss, continues to occur, so its value is kept low in design.

Power Transformer –

(a) Step-up Transformer – This transformer converts low voltage into maximum voltage and by giving low voltage in its primary coil, more voltage is obtained in the secondary coil, in this the number of turns in the secondary coil is more than the primary coil.

(b) Step down Transformer – In this, more voltage is given to the primary coil and less voltage is obtained in the secondary coil. This happens due to the number of turns in the primary coil being more than the secondary coil.

What did you learn today:-

Now you must have known the difference between power and distribution transformer. You must have got the answer to all these questions well.
